So here is what has been happening for the past little while, after 14 years I am getting back into Therapeutic Riding. At one time , a good portion of my life was spent teaching horseback riding to the disabled. I had students of all shapes and sizes with just about any condition you can think of, but then I got teenagers and had to shift gears. Years passed and I let my North American Riding for the Handicap Association (NARHA) certification expire as it requires 20 hours of continuing education every year. Well I am finding that it is a bit more involved to start all over again. It is a challenge, and my mind and body are a bit older now, my mind is having to work hard. Right now I am driving to several different Therapeutic Riding Centers in my area picking up teaching hours that I need before I can test for my certification. I have had the joy of reconnecting with some of my old students, who really for the most part are the same but have just grown up. Also meeting new and delightful individuals that make me think, and lesson plan , and remember all those safety rules! Most of all I am remembering and witnessing the amazing horses. Horses are truly Gods gift to man. Their hearts and minds seem to know the needs of each student. Today I experianced again that special feeling, a knowing really that angels are present, watching , protecting, and whispering to us, that these very amazing individuals have come to earth to be our teachers.I Love to be ever learning!
